What's the difference between injection molded EVA and compression molded EVA?

Injection molded EVA is also been called as the EVA foam injection molding, foam injection molding, injected EVA, whatever you would like to call them.

Compression molded EVA foam can be divided into heat compression molded EVA foam and cold compression molded EVA foam. Both processes could be finished with fabric or without fabric.

Mold costs

The injection mould is very similar as the plastic injection mould, so the mould cost is very expensive, and it will take more time to finish the prototypes and samples. For some complex product, it will cost several months or even more than 1 or 2 years.

Unit prices

Generally speaking, the unit price of injection molded EVA is lower than compression molded EVA products, because the process is simple and easy. So please think it over before to set up the mold.

Production Lead time

The production lead time of injection molded EVA is shorter than compression molded EVA.

Production Processes

It’s simpler for injection molded EVA factory to finish the productions.

But for compression molded EVA, it needs more time to laminate, punch holes and vents; heat the material in ovens, compression materials and sheets, cut the edges.

For injection molded EVA, it could yield more complex shape and modeling

For compression molded EVA foam mold, it could not yield the undercut design, it needs the male mould and female mould to yield the shape.

Applications

Injection molded EVA foam parts are mostly used in industry, such as shoes midsole and outsoles, EVA slippers, EVA ipad covers, and more.

for compression molded EVA, they are widely used in packing, personal protections and car accessories, such as bags and cases, knee pads and cushions, knee pads inserts, interiors, mats, liners, and more.

For EVA foam material, both of them are the same
